To most of us, ovarian symptoms are very real. Yet many times these symptoms often go unnoticed. These symptoms may be comparable to several other conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease, or when the fertilized egg implants anywhere other than the uterine wall, or cells appear and flourish in areas outside the uterine cavity, most commonly on the ovaries. Other conditions unrelated to reproductive organs such as diverticulitis and appendicitis can also mimic the symptoms of a ruptured swelling of the ovaries. It is important to be aware of the changes of your body in order to determine the severity of the symptoms.

If you have ever suffered from ovarian cyst you'll probably have experienced the uncomfortable symptoms that they cause. Symptoms are your body's way of telling you something's wrong, so never ignore them. Instead take that as a hint to go to the doctor for a checkup to see what the problem is and get rid of it as soon as possible in order to go back to your daily life. Ovarian cysts can shrink away and simply vanish on their own in the majority of cases. But sometimes they can grow and cause other health issues.

Pain is considered the most common side effect of having the situation. Pain will be felt not only in the pelvic region of your body but pain can be felt elsewhere in the body. A growing cyst can place pressure onto various parts of your body including nerves which can affect the lower back and legs. In addition there is generally pain during sexual intercourse as well as during the monthly menstrual cycle.

One of the types of ovarian cyst symptoms would be experiencing pain during sex. If this is your case, then you definitely shouldn't ignore it especially if it has not happened before during your intimate moments with your partner. The discomfort may have been caused by a growing cyst in your ovary. Women with cyst on ovaries may also experience difficulty in bowel movement. Try to detect if you always experience it as constipation may also be one of the ovarian cyst symptoms.

Depending on the type, size and location of the cysts treatment for ovarian cyst also consider the age of the patient. For "functional cyst", the doctor would recommend waiting and seeing if the cysts would disappear over a period of time because it normally does. For polycystic type, prescription may vary accordingly. For endometrial cyst, cystic adenoma, and cysts that contains developmentally mature skin, treatment is usually done with surgery. Laparoscopy will be done if the cyst is sore.

Ovarian cysts are diagnosed by a test called pep smear test. The tests are done by a gynecologist by feeling the ovaries to detect for any kind of swelling or lesion in the ovaries. If a cyst is suspected by the gynecologist, he will refer an ultrasound and with the report of the ultrasound, you will get to know the location of the cyst, its size, its shape and the consistency of the cyst.
