Dandruff is a skin condition that affects the scalp, and it is a very embarrassing one. If you have a rather bad case of dandruff, then you're in a heap of trouble. Constantly scratching at your head and causing white flakes to fall all over your shirt definitely looks less than sexy. So if you're suffering from this humiliating skin condition, there are some things that you can do to treat dandruff and keep it away naturally and permanently.

Men tend to frown upon using homemade remedies when it comes to treating different kinds of ailments, often seeing them as "girlie" and tend to just spend money on commercial dandruff treatments. But the truth is that these home remedies to prevent dandruff often work as well, if not better than commercial anti-dandruff products, and they're also cheap so it's perfect for guys that are on a tight budget. Here are a couple of homemade remedies that can help eliminate the excessive flaking and itching of your scalp:

Vinegar- For many years, vinegar has always been the choice of a lot of people for treating dandruff. Before you hop into your shower, apply a liberal amount of vinegar on your hair and massage it into your scalp. Wait a couple of minutes and then wash it off with your favorite shampoo. You can also try adding lemon juice with vinegar, doing so will make your scalp itch quite a bit afterwards but you can get rid of dandruff faster this way.

Fenugreek Seeds- These seeds have also been used for hundreds of years as a viable treatment for dandruff and other skin conditions. Using fenugreek seeds does require a bit of preparation though; you need to soak the seeds in warm water for 6 to 8 hours, grind them into a fine paste, and then apply it onto the scalp and leave it on for about 30 minutes before washing it off with a mild shampoo.

Aloe Vera- The enzymes that are found in the Aloe Vera leaves are known the world over for its ability to heal minor cuts and bruises. Get some Aloe Vera gel, apply it on your scalp and then leave it on for 10 minutes then rinse it off completely.

These home remedies can treat dandruff pretty well, and the best part is that you may already have all the things you need right in your kitchen cabinet. So before you go out and buy a very expensive bottle of medicated shampoo, try the home remedies mentioned above and get rid of your dandruff and save a lot of money at the same time.
